Risk

Sorry for the delay between posts, to be honest, there just hasn't been anything "write worthy."

Risk. The game of the devil. Not only does it take an hour to learn how to play, it takes an hour to set-up, then like 80 hours to play. Ok not that long but you catch my drift. On Saturday night me and some friends decided to play. Here is how it broke down:
There were 3 teams. Jon and Fu were together, Hilmi and Kaito were together, although Kaito left early and Hilmi then teamed up with Green Eagle Manny and some consultation from Yip, who had played the game before. Finally, I was on a team with Leo Fu.
For those who have not played Risk, it is actually a very fun game. Intense, Strategic, and a real Friendship Breaker. At the beginning it looked like Hilmi and team had it won, until the battle of all battles went down. it was truly epic. it was like the Spartans taking on Xerxes and his army. It was Hilmi's 40 red plastic toys against Fu and Jons 30 plastic toys. Hilmi was attacking and if he won this battle would control majority of the board and ease his way to victory. However, those plans were not to be. Jon and Fu game up with a mega defense and took the battle, along with the rest of the board about 2 hours later. Damn Megatrons.
All in all i had alot of fun, although my stomach hurt from the Pepsi and chips with cheese. Miyuki was there to exchange all of our men for us, and pipe in with some strategic help. We had so much fun it is something we might do more often, only next time we will start earlier so we don't play til 4:30 in the morning.
Anyway that's it for now, but i will be back soon as i am apartment and car hunting and will keep y'all updated with how i do.

thank you WWTDD, you helped me find the girl of my dreams

I am at work and busy but I had to post this. Part of my morning ritual is going to www.wwtdd.com. Guy is funny. Today I look and happen to find quite possibly one of the funniest videos I have ever seen. If you have 4 minutes to spare, and love good singing, do yourself a favour and watch this.

More Self Promotion

This time i was talked about on notes from the nat, which is a blog that talks mainly about the Vancouver Canadians.

"Khouri was a Game Day intern this season, putting on the contests you all saw from the stands, which is a key part of your Nat Bailey experience. He is now the Group Sales Manager, hoping to attract groups of over 20 to our beautiful ballpark. His hiring has been expected for a few weeks, and the Canadians have to be happy that he will be staying on with the team."

The whole article can be read here:

Just like to thank Jeremy for the kind words. He also writes a blog, and i have the link below on the right. Called the road kill sports blog. he has some good interviews on his site. Jeremy is 12 years old and is an amazing writer. He has done interviews with many people from Jim Lang of Sportsnet to Rob Fai, voice of the Canadians as well as Team 1040 employee. I encourage all to read Jeremy's stuff.

Stories Around the Web

Just sharing some various stories i found interesting from around the web. First is Don Vito, Bam Margera's uncle, might be going to jail. I feel really bad for this guy. Not only does he get made fun of alot, but he really thinks the crazier he acts the more people like him. Here is the story courtesy of yahoo news:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071031/ap_en_mu/people_margera;_ylt=AgJb0_s07YCTSorI8dHAEG6s0NUE

Next up is one of the funniest man on the planet Stephen Colbert. I seriously think if he runs he might have a sporting chance. I mean, he got 1,000,000 people in his facebook group faster than Obama. People love this guy.

That's it for now. Thanks y'all. Don't forget to watch the Canucks beat down the Predators tonight. Late.

New Blog to check out..

First off i need to thank Jess for introducing me to this new blog.

http://imbringingbloggingback.blogspot.com/

It is a pretty cool blog just about pop culture. I read it cause it gives good recaps of the hills. Speaking of the hills, to anyone who does not believe it is scripted, read this:

Rice's Bday, Hockey, and HUGE ONLINE POKER NEWS

So on Friday we celebrated Rice's birthday, which actually was on the 15Th. A bunch of people (not including myself) went out for dinner which i heard was good. I was picked up by Hilmi and Fu and was told we were gonna head to Foggy Dew. Foggy Dew is one of those places where i don't mind going once in a while. You always see someone you know, drinks are relatively cheap, and everyone always has a good time. Unfortunately the line outside was as long as i have seen in a long time, even though it was pouring rain outside. Lucky for us there is a liquor store right next door so we just grabbed some beers and headed to Fu's house for some drinking. We hung out til 3am and just chilled. The highlight of the night however has to be the leaf-blower wake-up.
After pounding back most of a 26 of Crown Royal, Mike ''v-unit'' Vuong was passed out. i mean done. Also passed out was bday boy Rice. We came up with the bright idea to stick a leaf blower in their face to wake them up. As you can imagine, hilarity ensued, especially when Mike woke up, said F%$k you guys, then went back to sleep. We did video tape it and i Will try and get that video up as soon as i get it from Fu.

Played hockey on Saturday and Sunday, which was nice. Haven't played since May basically. Saturday was just a drop in which was nice, and Sunday i played in a game. The pace was really fast and i am really out of game shape. I was so tired half way through.

Lastly for today is the huge online poker news. For those who do not know, Absolute Poker has been caught cheating. Basically what happened is in a 1k tournament it was down to heads up and a guy made a crazy call with 10 high. The player who lost then e-mailed AP and asked for a tournament hand summary so he could see the guys play at the final table. Instead of a hand history they e-mailed him ALL of the hole cards in the hand history. To read the whole story with evidence click on the following links. The story has 2 parts, with many more to come i assume, so i have placed the links in chronological order for your convenience.

As if this is not enough for the online gaming community, check out this story courtesy of espn.
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/poker/columns/story?columnist=wise_gary&id=3068854
The biggest winner in online tournament history was also caught cheating, playing with multiple accounts. Not a good week for online poker.

YATTA

Before i get into what i did yesterday, i want everyone to watch this video. now. you. yes you. watch it. it is called YATTA and one of the funniest music videos i have ever seen. Japanese boy band. the translations are awesome, just wondering if they are right. Anyone know Japanese and can verify for me?? anyway here is the link:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=u9rWFZesV8s

Yesterday i went to SFU to watch the Clan take on The University of Toronto Varsity Blues in basketball. Only reason i went is cause my good friend Andrew Wasik plays for U of T. The blue birds were out in full effect as there was a group of about 20 of us cheering for Andrew. None louder than Rahil. Him, and 4 others, painted their chests to spell out WASIK and were wearing these basketball head masks. I will have pics to put up very shortly. We went for the good times but ended up being treated to a great game. U of T was down 23 points in the 3rd quarter before coming back and tying it with about 4 mins to play. SFU won by 3 but that is OK, good times were had by all, especially Ole having to pull up Jordan's pants every time he jumped up.

After that i went to a club called Celebrities with Hilmi, Leo, Fu, Jess, Rick and his friend Jasmine. We went to see DJ A TRAK who is Kanye Wests' DJ as well as Kid Sister. The show was awesome. We got in around 10 or so but the show didn't start til 12, so we had 2 hours to drink and hang out. Once the show got started it kicked some major ass. Kid Sister, who i had never heard of, rocked it. Her performance was really short but was awesome. 5/5 no doubt.

When she was done DJ A TRAK took over. literally. He brought the house down. i had to leave at 1:30(had to get up at 7 for work) so i didn't see him for as long as i wanted but nonetheless he was wicked. 5/5.

The whole night gets a solid 5/5. First time at celebrities and the show was awesome. Running into Ash and Anna didn't hurt either. I will be back posting soon as tonight we are going out for my boy Rice's birthday party. i will let you all know how it went soon. til then, out.

Weekend Review

Pretty eventful weekend. On Friday night i went to Fright Nights at PNE with Fu, Kenta, Kaito and his gf Yuko. Leo Fu later joined us. All in all it was OK, but not worth $25 bucks. One of the haunted houses was broken and there was zero light inside. it was just walking in a pitch black area walking into walls and stuff, so lame. It is a fun atmosphere in general, they have people dressed in costumes and make up just walking around trying to scare people and the decor is cool, but the lines were really long. You wait 20 minutes for a 2 minute haunted house. Best part is they have most of the rides open which was fun. Overall i give it a 2.7/5.

On Saturday night it was Fu and Jason Chan's birthday party at a place called Bliss in Coal Harbour. They rented out the whole restaurant for a private party. We had an amazing time. I will post some pictures as soon as i get some. Now for the review. Start with dinner. It was tapas, which means they brought out several small dishes for all to share. The food itself was good, pre-set menu, just not enough. It started with some sort of taquito/spring roll thing with cheese in it, then short ribs, then sushi, then some small cut steak, and finally duck and steak served in noodles with veggies and rice. Like i said, food was good just not filling. If the price wasn't $35 i might be a bit more lenient but i give it a 3.2/5. If the price was lower and there was maybe one more dish it could have easily been a 4.
Now onto the drinking. I basically drank rum and cokes all night, and at $5.50 was priced average. I had some shots as well, which were $5, and i also had some Tiger beer. I must say having different types of beer was a huge plus. My friend Manny said he had the beer while he was in Asia and was excited to have it again. The prices were good, the drinks were good, only negative was the wait. Having said that, i put no blame on the people working there. They worked their asses off, especially the owner Sye who was behind the bar all night working really hard. The problem was a small bar meant to be used for a restaurant, not a club atmosphere, which is no ones fault. Drinks get a solid 4.5/5.
The overall experience was awesome. The DJ's were really really good, although no I'm So Hood, sorry Jon, and everyone had an awesome time. I would, and will go back for dinner, and i look forward to checking out the owners other location he told me about in Deep cove. Overall, the whole night experience, 5/5. I had a great time. I heard no complaints except for the food, and the wait, like i said, people were upset but understanding. Just made us buy more every time we got the chance.
Next up is Rice's birthday which is on Monday. He gets a 5/5 for looking so sexy last night, ha ha. Until next post, i am out.
PS-Still looking for contributors on any front, let me know if you are interested in sharing anything you wanna talk about.

Don't Call it a Comeback

I have tried and failed many times in the history of this blog to be continuous on my posts and keep things fresh. But i suck. Yes, suck. This time, however, things will be different. I am going to keep it up. I mean, if i cut my facebook time by like %20 i can write something everyday. Not saying i can cut down my facebooking cause it's addicting, but i can try. Anyways, onwards and upwards.

First off, for those who have been here before i hope you like the chanegs i have made to the layout. I added a youtube bar at the bottome which basically links to videos of my interests. The interests will change sporadically, but i will also post links to videos i really want people to see. Like this one that was introduced to me at Hilmi's house when playing poker http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_93EfHR7Ut8 I love Kanye West and I love SNL so they go hand in hand. awwww hell naw fam!!

Another thing i want to introduce is features from outside peeps. I had some contributors in the past and they were well received. This is an open call. Anyone out there with anything to say please get in touch with me and i will post your thoughts. I am looking forward to the first one. You can contact me on facebook, through e-mail at either spirokhouri@hotmail.com or skhouri@canadiansbaseball.com , or by leaving a comment here. Thanks again everyone and i will be back soon. Late.
